When it comes to eating, we all want to know where the locals go. And in that spirit, Gridskipper has posted a map of the SF diet, highlighting six spots that real locals love. If only it were 600, and every city did this.

And in the latest installment of "recessionista" lifestyle coverage—that is, what style and entertaining coverage used to be before the  economy cratered—the Wall Street Journal has an article on high-end restaurants in L.A., Denver, and San Francisco that are expanding their bar areas, bar menus, and a la carte menus. Because the one thing that doesn't go down in a recession is alcohol consumption.

And The New York Times reports on a new trend of fractional selling—owners who are selling slices of their vacation homes and turning them into vacation shares. The glass half full take? If you're willing to use a google calendar with other owners, an affordable weekend getaway could be at your fingertips.
